Niacinamide- What Is It?
I am sure you have seen this on a variety of skincare products in the store or from influencers. It’s seen on some brands, that I don’t like to support but I know many of my clients know exactly which product I am talking about.
What is it?
Niacinamide, also known as vitamin B3 included in Mandelica is a water-soluble vitamin shown to have numerous benefits for the skin, particularly in formulas that treat acne prone skin types. We love the many therapeutic benefits of Niacinamide and use it in multiple formulations.
Top Benefits:
Inflammation: Niacinamide has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties, which help to reduce redness and irritation associated with acne.
Sebum production: Niacinamide helps regulate the production of sebum, the natural oil produced by the skin. This is beneficial for those with acne-prone skin, as excess sebum contributes to the clogging of pores which can be a precursor to a breakout.
Barrier function: Niacinamide improves the function of the skin barrier, which prevents moisture loss and keeps the skin hydrated. This is important for all skin types, including acne-prone.
Hyperpigmentation: Niacinamide has also been shown to reduce the appearance of hyperpigmentation, which can be a concern for those with acne-prone skin who may experience post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH) after a breakout.
Collagen production: Niacinamide effectively boosts collagen production and improves elasticity, which improves the overall texture and tone of the skin.
Overall, niacinamide is a hero ingredient! It offers a range of benefits for the skin, from reducing inflammation and regulating sebum to improving barrier function and reducing hyperpigmentation.
